Aloha Fellow KS Class Reps:

A few reminders:

Veteran’s Day Recognition of KS Alumni Veterans
o Enclosed is a listing of last year’s attendees at the Student Body Veteran’s Day Recognition Assembly at Kekuhaupi’o. Please look over the list of your class veterans – make any additions or deletions and return to me no later than October 6. The names you submit will be sent an invitation from this office to attend this year’s recognition service. A file copy is enclosed for your records.
o In addition, please include the names of classmates killed in action so that we may also honor them.

KS All-Alumni Charter School Community Service Project
o The deadline to receive class or individual contributions to this project has been extended to October 10 – the week of our KS Alumni Class Rep Retreat on Saturday, October 14, 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Pauahi Admnistration Bldg. The majority of classes have sent in their contributions; however, we still need to hear from several classes – we voted for this project as a group and the need for these charter schools still exists. If your classmates have been communicated with towards helping with this project, and you’ve already sent in your contributions, MAHALO A NUI LOA! If not, then please work with your classmates to be a part of this joint KS alumni community service project. Remember, this is NOT a Kamehameha Schools project – the school is already doing so much in helping to promote education through various programs and with scholarship assistance. This is all about we, as Kamehameha alumni, helping to make a difference in our Hawaiian community. Checks are to be made payable to Kamehameha Schools with a note on the bottom of the check stating, “For KS Alumni Charter School Project”. Send to Kamehameha Schools; PAR, Alumni Relations Unit; 1887 Makuakane Street; Honolulu, HI 96817. If there is a RED DOT next to this reminder, we need to hear from you. Our goal is to have 100% participation from the classes. We can do it!

KS ALUMNI CLASS REPS RETREAT
o Saturday, October 14, 2006 – 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Pauahi Administration Bldg. Please send a representative in your place if you as, class rep, cannot attend. A full agenda is being planned. (Lunch is included). A reply card is enclosed.

AHA (Alumni Helping Alumni…with service to others) Conference
o Saturday, February 17, 2007 – 8 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Ke`elikolani Auditorium. 5 Delegates per class, including class rep. Cost: $15 per person – includes registration, conference materials, lunch and entertainment. More information will be given out at the October 14 Class Reps Retreat.

Class Page on PAR’s Website
o Check out your class web page on PAR’s Website: alumni.ksbe.edu.
We need to post updated information on this page. If you have your own class website, this can be linked to the class page on PAR’s site as well. It is discouraging to look for class news on the alumni class page and not find anything. Check out some of the other class pages to see what kinds of news are being shared. For those who have no access to a computer, you may send in class news via regular mail and we will input the information for you.

Mahalo for all you do as alumni class reps…you are appreciated for your commitment, dedication and willingness to go the extra mile…

E hana pü käkou,

Gerry Johansen ‘60
